The IFCS serves as a facilitator and advocate aiming to bring order to actions taken in the interest of global chemical safety.
- International Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System (MEDLARS) Centers (sponsored by the U.S. National Library of Medicine)
The National Library of Medicine (NLM) contracts with public institutions in foreign countries to serve as International MEDLARS Centers. These Centers function as resource centers assisting health professionals in accessing MEDLARS databases, offering search training, and providing document delivery.
IUTOX fosters international scientific cooperation among toxicologists. It promotes the pursuit of knowledge in toxicology and ensures continued training and development of toxicologists worldwide.
The OECD Environment Directorate provides governments with the analytical basis to develop policies that are effective and economically efficient. The methods used include performance reviews, data collection, policy analysis, projections and modeling, and the development of common approaches.

The Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) is a policy framework for international action on chemical hazards. It was adopted by the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM) on 6 February 2006 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
UNEP National Committees are networks of multi-stakeholder organizations. Their constituency includes representatives of environmental and development NGOs, UN Associations, news media, industry and labor circles, the scientific community, women, youth, and indigenous peoples' organizations, community groups, and governments, as well as prominent individuals.
