Experience and areas of interest:
• 25 years of experience in toxicological and ecotoxicological risk assessment, particularly focussed on pesticides, metals, pharmaceuticals, and waste characterization.
• The development of non-animal methods to assess chemical toxicity has been one of the topics investigated intensively, especially those related to neurotoxicology and ecotoxicology, particularly using integrated strategies with bacteria, cladocera and fish cultured cell lines.
• The in vivo toxicity testing and investigation in vivo and in vitro on the mechanisms of toxic action, oxidative stress and also on diverse related areas such as Good Laboratory Practice implementation, biochemical and neurochemical analysis, and molecular biology technology.
