During the month of January, around 300curies of radioactive Ruthenium-106 was released from Hanford and began circulating through the air. Though Ruthenium-106 has a pretty short half-life, 368 days, radioactive Ruthenium was detected in the air over 150 miles away in the town of Spokane, Washington. For a year then, the people of Spokane were exposed to radiation in the air from Hanford.
