It's Atomic Bombs
Provided by Gail Grinnell - Gail's web site
President Truman announced that Hanford was making atomic bomb material.
Extra edition sheet that the weekly Richland newspaper, “The Villager,” ran on August 6, 1945, after the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Until President Truman’s announcement that day, neither Hanford’s townspeople nor the majority of the B-reactor workers producing the plutonium used in “Fat Man,” the bomb that would be dropped on Nagasaki three days later, knew the purpose of Hanford’s top-secret project.
