- 1882 Hélène Monastier born Payerne, Switzerland (d. 1976). Quaker; co-founder of first nonviolent peace corps, Service Civil International (SCI), 1920, whose motto is "Deeds, not words."
- 1934 Sissela Ann Myrdal Bok born Stockholm, Sweden. Nonviolent philosopher; daughter of Nobel prize winner Alva Myrdal.
