Above is a picture of the Hanford village

By the end of 1944, the Hanford Village, built by Swedish-born Spokane architect Gustav Albin Pehrson, housed nearly 50,000 workers and their families. The newer houses were ranch-style and sprung up in clusters in new neighborhoods. Though Pehrson wanted the houses to stand as equalizers with regards to available amenities it still happened that the management and executive houses grouped together on land closer to the Columbia River.
