August 6

After receiving the order from President Harry S. Truman, the bombs prepared at Los Alamos as the ultimate goal of the Manhattan Project were loaded to be sent to Japan. On August 6th Little Boy was dropped over the city of Hiroshima from the notorious B-29 the Enola Gay. By the end of the day over 90,000 people in the city of Hiroshima and the surrounding area were killed. Three days later on August 9th, the Fat Man bomb was dropped over Nagasaki. The Fat Man contained plutonium produced at the Hanford Site. On that first day in Nagasaki, over 70,000 people were killed.
