Overview

The Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) was founded in 1970 by a group of forensic toxicologists led by Abe Freirich at the Naussau County Medical Examiners office. The meetings began as informal discussions and took place for the first few years every fall until until 1970 when the group decided to construct a formal organization. They felt that an organization could do more to promote the cause of forensic toxicology. The first formal meeting was geld in 1974 and guided by the new president Dr. Jane Speaker.
