Mithradates (or Mithridates VI), rebel ruler of a kingdom on the Black Sea (NE Turkey), who sought a "universal antidote" to make himself immune to assassination by poisoning. After enemies murdered his father with arsenic, young Mithradates began experimenting with poisons and antidotes to protect himself and his friends.
