Background
Kent Slowinski is a former member of the Spring Valley Restoration Advisory Board dealing with the 16 year cleanup of chemical munitions and contamination from World War I activities at the American University Experiment Station, now known as the Spring Valley Formerly Used Defense Site, in Washington, DC.
Kent Slowinski earned a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Bachelors of Science from the University of Maryland. He is a founding member of the Environmental Health Group, which promotes environmental education for issues such as cleaning up Formerly Used Defense Sites.
For example: Did you know that there are more than 9,000 Formerly Used Defense Sites around the US, and at current Pentagon funding levels, it will take 80-160 years to cleanup the known contamination? Increasing funding will speed up the cleanup and decrease the number of people who are exposed to toxic chemicals.
