Chemical Description


Isobutyronitrile is a stable, flammable, colorless liquid at room temperature (MSDS).

Uses


It is used as an organic solvent, in producing Insecticides, and as a gasoline additive (EPA - Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention).

Health Effects


Information about Isobutyronitrile's health effects are not well known. It is not listed as a WHO, as acutely toxic by the EPA, nor is it thought to be a Cholinesterase Inhibitor (PAN). It is considered to be a neurotoxicant and respiratory toxicant (Scorecard).
