William Jennings Bryan (March 19, 1860 - July 26, 1925) was the chief proponent of the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act of 1914 which regulated and taxed the production, importation, distribution and use of opiates. William Jennings Bryan was an American lawyer, statesman, and politician. He was a three-time Democratic Party nominee for President of the United States.
