Gertrude Margaret Lowthian Bell CBE (July 14, 1868 - July 12, 1926) was a British writer, traveler, political analyst, administrator in Arabia, and archaeologist who discovered Mesopotamian ruins. Bell, also known as "The Uncrowned Queen of Iraq," committed suicide using sleeping pills after returning to England in 1926.
