By, Prof. [Jack Vanden Huevel] and his Fall 2008 Veterinary Biology Seminar at Pennsylvania State Univ.
This article is a result of a University Partnership.
Melamine, a mostly nitrogenous compound, was developed by a German scientist in the 1830s and used in the manufacture of plastics and laminates, specifically dishwasher-safe plastic dishware through the 1970s when ceramic and glass dishes became more favorable. The compound has jumped from dishware to foods in the dishes they used to compose.
