  • 1936 - Gerhard Schrader of the I. G. Farbenindustrie laboratory in Leverkusen, Germany first prepared nerve agent Tabun (ethyl dimethylphosphoramidocyanidate, GA). Tabun is the first nerve agent to be created.
  • 1912 - Anna J. Harrison, the first woman president of the American Chemical Society and the president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1983-84), was born on this day.
