April 2010 Newsletter

Happy Earth Day from all of us here at Toxipedia. We hope that today you have a chance to celebrate our planet whether it be spending lunch outside or choosing organic products at the grocery store tonight.

We are excited to announce the debut of two additions to our Learning Tools section: The Toxicology History Roomand Ethical Considerations: Pesticide Use in Developing Nations. See below for detailed descriptions.

The Toxicology History Room

An exhibit that was first presented at the 2009 Society of Toxicology meeting in Baltimore, MD, the Toxicology History Room is an effort to inform professional toxicologists and the general public about the history of many of the organizations working on related issues as well as historical perspectives on topics such as Bisphenol-A, Lead, and more.

For the first time the Toxicology History Room can be found online on Toxipedia.

Visit the History Room to view posters and presentations made at the meeting and learn more about the history of toxicology.

Pesticide Use in Developing Nations

While pesticides pose possible health and environmental hazards wherever they are used, communities in developing nations often face additional hazards uncommon in industrialized nations. The goals of this Toxipedia section are a) to raise public awareness about the impacts of pesticide use in developing nations, and b) to help link environmental health professionals in developing nations with each other and with information resources addressing these complex and critical issues.

Visit this section on Toxipediato learn more.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Toxipedia

Sincerely,
The Toxipedia Team
