Overview

On May 24, 2010 The Allen Institute for Brain Science launched the Allen Human Brain Atlas, a publicly available online atlas charting genes at work throughout the human brain.

The Allen Institute for Brain Science is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit medical research organization dedicated to advancing brain research by delivering data and tools online for free to scientists worldwide. Launched in 2003 with a generous seed contribution from philanthropist Paul G. Allen, the Institute tackles projects at the leading edge of science—far-reaching projects at the intersection of biology and technology.
