Artist Bio

Thendara Kida-Gee gained a B.A (Honours) Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London 2002 and later studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. Her works have been largely inspired by the photography of Pirkle Jones and his Documentary of Social and Cultural Institutions. This love and obsession can be seen today in her project This Life in Ruins; documenting the abandoned and forgotten aspects of our civilization, finding beauty in disrepair and neglect.

Thendara's art spans from a long term love affair with photography to installation and dabbles in a range of other mediums in between. Working as freelance photographer, web and graphic designer, Fine Art Pet Photographer, Photographic Lab Assistant, and Yoga Instructor (to name a few), Thendara has happily settled into a more multidimensional world, where anything is possible and all the quirkiness of ones life acquisitions begin to play with one another in less segregated fashion.

Thendara's work revolves around a holistic lifestyle that attempts to use more and waste nothing, where the process of making is also a process of recycling. Her photography is both documentation as well as a story in cinematic stills of commonly ignored aspects of life.
