Artist Bio

I grew up in Chicago and moved to Pocatello in ’75 with my husband, artist-blacksmith, Dennis Proksa and our daughter Jessie. Artistically, the landscape has had a profound influence on how I function. My work most often is my response to coming to know this place and time. I am playful with materials and subject matter. I enter the political arena with found object/mixed media pieces that refer to issues like air quality, peace, Old Glory, nuclear waste and our nuclear arsenal. I’ve been a proud member of the Snake River Alliance since 1987 and have testified at hearings, written letters, made countless phone calls, made signs and crossing guard vests to wear on the overpass when they brought more waste to Idaho for temporary storage Activism is a way of life when you realize it is up to you. I want to go, knowing, I tried to make a difference…

Our business Blackrock Forge supports this lifestyle. We design and build sculptures and create architectural ironwork.
