Plant Growth Categories
Plants are broken down into categories according to height and growth pattern. Trees, shrubs, vines, grasses, ferns, and groundcovers are components to every garden landscape. Within each section you'll find basic information on each category as well as factors to consider when choosing each type of plant such as soil type, sun exposure, and space needed for full growth.
Plant Life Cycles
Plants are divided into three categories that indicate their life cycle. Knowing the life cycle of the plant you are choosing to include in your garden is an importnat part of the garden planning process. If you're looking for some quick color to spruce up an area or a shrub or bush to set roots and grow for years to come you'll need to know the life cycle of the plant. Here you'll find some brief information on each category as well as monthly plant picks.
Planting Guide
Washington State University Cooperative Extension has compiled an excellent guide to educate the public on the basics of proper planting techniques. Never again will you simply dig a hole and drop the plant in. Proper planting outlined in this guide will ensure healthy growth both above and below ground as well as provide security to the investments you're making in your garden.
