Woody Weed Management
Grasses are a recent feature to landscape design. The wide color range and tidy growth habit provide a refined touch within a design plan. The vertical arching habit of grasses complements the denser and more rounded structures in the mixed border. Grasses are most commonly deciduous but a variety of sedges are evergreen perennials. When the grass dies back in the fall it can be cut back to the ground or left for structural interest over winter and then cut back in the spring before new growth appears. Generally most grasses thrive in sunny, moist, well drained soils.
